Overview
The 2-Day Inca Trail Hike with Camping, organized by QOSQO ADVENTURES, is the perfect choice for adventurers with limited time who still crave an authentic outdoor experience. This journey allows you to traverse the final stretch of the legendary stone path, explore ancient ruins, and arrive at Machu Picchu through the majestic Sun Gate (Intipunku). Unlike standard tours, you will spend a night under the stars at our exclusive campsite near the Urubamba River.
Our expedition offers a premium small-group setting featuring gourmet picnic breakfasts and lunches prepared on-site by our professional trekking chefs. You won’t have to worry about logistics; our team handles the heavy lifting, including setting up high-quality camping gear. At QOSQO ADVENTURES, we pride ourselves on responsible tourism and the fair treatment of our dedicated porters and staff.
On the second morning, you will re-enter the citadel for an in-depth guided exploration of its temples and sacred plazas before enjoying a scenic return to Cusco on the Vistadome train. For those seeking an extra challenge, optional ascents to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain are available upon request.
Day 1: Chachabamba, Wiñay Wayna, and Sun Gate Arrival
Begin with a transfer to the station and a train ride to Km 104. After a fresh breakfast, hike through the cloud forest to visit Chachabamba and Wiñay Wayna. Arrive at Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate for sunset views before heading to our riverside camp for dinner.
Day 2: Machu Picchu Sanctuary & Historic Tour
Start the day with a hot coffee at camp before a bus ride back to the citadel. Enjoy an extensive guided tour of Circuit 3, exploring the Royal Palace and Sun Temple. In the afternoon, return to Cusco via the Vistadome train.
2-Day Expedition Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Km 104, Wiñay Wayna, and Sun Gate Entrance
The QOSQO ADVENTURES team will pick you up early from your hotel (approx. 4:00 a.m. in Cusco or 5:30 a.m. in Ollantaytambo) to catch the train toward the trailhead. We disembark at Km 104 (Chachabamba), where our trekking chef will be waiting with a fresh picnic breakfast to fuel your journey. After clearing the government checkpoint, we explore the Chachabamba ruins before starting a steady 3-hour ascent.
The trail winds through lush cloud forests until reaching the spectacular terraces of Wiñay Wayna. Here, your guide will bring the history of this «Forever Young» site to life. Nearby, we pause for a picnic lunch featuring local ingredients and variety. The hike continues for another hour toward Intipunku (the Sun Gate), where you will witness your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu at a time when most crowds have already left.
After capturing the iconic views from Circuit 1, we take a bus down to our Puente Ruinas campsite. Your tents will be fully prepared upon arrival near the Urubamba River. The evening concludes with a warm dinner prepared by our chef and a peaceful night surrounded by nature.

Yes. You arrive at the Sun Gate in the afternoon of Day 1 for panoramic photos and then return on the morning of Day 2 for your comprehensive guided tour.
