Frequently Asked Questions

Is this trek harder than the Inca Trail?

Many consider the Salkantay Trek more challenging due to the higher altitude (4,630 m) and the steepness of the terrain. However, it is also more diverse in terms of landscapes.

What is the «Salka Glamp»?

It is our exclusive glamping site near Salkantay Mountain. We use yurt-style tents that offer superior protection and comfort compared to standard trekking tents.

Can I leave my main luggage at the office?

Yes. QOSQO ADVENTURES offers free luggage storage in Cusco. You only take the 7 kg duffle bag and your daypack on the trail.

Is phone signal available?

Expect zero coverage for most of the trail. Some towns like Collpapampa might have paid Wi-Fi, but we recommend preparing for an offline adventure. Our guides carry satellite phones for emergencies.

When is the best time to hike?

The dry season (April to October) is ideal. April, May, and September are particularly good months with fewer crowds and stable weather.

Do I need an expert level of fitness?

A solid fitness level is required. If you are active and spend a couple of days acclimatizing in Cusco, you will be able to complete the trek successfully.
